Comedian Fuquan Johnson dies aged 42 ‘from drug overdose at house party’

Fuquan Johnson has died at the age of 42 with a reported suspected drug overdose at a house party.

The comedian is said to have attended a gathering at an estate in the Venice area of ​​Los Angeles on Friday.

According to TMZ, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene when police officers arrived after midnight. Two others were also found dead while another, believed to be comedian Kate Quigley, was taken to hospital.

The LA coroner’s office has yet to conduct an autopsy, but investigators suspect the victims ingested cocaine laced with fentanyl, a synthetic opioid similar to morphine but 50 times more potent than heroin.

Johnson, who wrote the script for Comedy Parlor Live, is known to be friends with Kate because they were photographed together a few years ago.

Kate recently dated Hootie & The Blowfish star Darius Rucker and his agent confirmed that the pair are no longer together, but have been an item for much of last year.

It is not yet clear who owns the property where the gathering took place, but Kate is said to live next door.

Comedian Brian Redban has appeared to share a screenshot of the text messages he’s been sharing with Kate since the incident. She wrote back: ‘I’m alive. I’m not great but I [sic] ALRIGHT.’

Ride Along star Kevin Hart led tributes to Johnson and wrote in an Instagram post: ‘Omg RIP FU’, accompanied by a crying emoji.

Marlon Wayans is friends with Johnson and shared an emotional tribute to the comic, writing: ‘Damn it. Where do I start? Speechless. I will miss your disgusting ass. I miss your smoking voice. I will remember the two hours of roasting we had.

‘You always check my chin for me. Hold me on my toes. Keep me grounded. Let me know don’t be too rich, don’t be too successful and then lose your “path”. Grass is not concrete n ** a. There will always be something to test you, so stay grounded, humble and connected. Get ready, get ready for fun… be awesome. ‘

He continued: ‘Thanks grandson. I f**king love you. I hope you find peace. I hope you sparkle like the twinkling light on strippers and magicians. You must be sitting outside the gates of heaven like “yooooooooo!!!! Come in! Oh my god, it’s Fu [email protected]! Let me in B”.
